Why are people defending Mr Biggs, I think Jack Straw was spot on.?
The guy has only served 10 years of a 30 year sentence.
He escaped from lawful custody. Doesnt that aggravate matters at all?
He then flaunted the fact the authorities couldnt touch him for many decades, living off his noteriety.
He then became ill and decided to have the UK taxpayers pick up the tab for his upkeep.
He is wholly unrepentant about any aspect of the crime. Even calling the coshing of the train driver a gentle tap.
Sorry but you add all these things up, and I have no sympathy for the guy whatsoever.
Otherwise what message are you sending out? Commit any crime you like, but as long as you can avoid getting caught till your fairly old, then you'll be untouchable?
He has only served 1/3 of his original sentence. A sentence that would have been completed years ago had he not been so gutless.
